the castleton depot may be one of the best small train stations in the united states. while it is not officially "staffed', caretakers mary anne and val jakubowski are on hand for every train arrival and departure. the depot is heated in winter and air conditioned in summer, has a clean, well-maintained bathroom, and contains ample seating for travelers and those picking up or dropping off. also in the station is a wonderful bakery/sandwich shop. while amtrak's ethan allen -- that's the train
and val will help with positioning your car if you are to be away for a
serving castleton -- carries a cafe and bar, michele and william at the depot bakery serve up wonderful treats, fresh coffee and cupcakes beyond description during all the morning train times. parking is free,
longer period of time. the station is a few hundred feet from an interchange on state route 4, allowing excellent highway connections
