Castleton University is a beautiful school set in small town VT. It is a perfect place for students who want to be more than just a number. Class sizes are small and all of the professors get to know their students. Castleton offers many of the same opportunities bigger universities do, with many clubs, D-3 sports teams, intramural teams, and there are always various events held around campus for students. The party scene is not huge here, but for anyone who loves the outdoors there's hiking, swimming, kayaking, skiing, all a short drive from campus. Overall, Castleton is a wonderful place to receive your college education.

I'm an alumni (class of 1992) and 24 years ago it was an okay place to go to school. Only problem I had was my faculty advisor never bothered to tell me until my last year there that I had to have a minor, which cost me an extra semester in this school to finish up. Atmosphere was fine, and being a small school everyone pretty much knew everyone by sight, if not by name, which was both good and bad. All in all not a bad place, but you're not going to wow anyone with a Castleton (where?) sheepskin.

As a double major in math and secondary education I found major conflicts in the program. I disagreed with the prevailing constructivist learning method. You cannot teach math whole to its parts. You must understand the concepts you are working with and build up. Not try to teach a whole unit and break it apart into its pieces afterward. Ex. You can't learn about right triangles and trigonometry until you understand what a right angle is. This was back in the late 90s early 2000s, maybe this has changed as the professors have retired. I was less than impressed with my advisors as I did all of the work for them in setting my schedules and figuring out how to graduate on time. I would have finished in 3 1/2 years had it not been for 1 math class only offered every other spring that I was unable to get into my sophomore year since it was full of upper classmen taking it as an elective. Not fair to someone who needs it for their major at all. Also as a somewhat non traditional student (started at 16 and graduate at 20) and living at home meant trying to get in the touchstones classes very difficult, as my license was still a junior drivers license and I was not allowed to drive after 9pm.

This college is garbage and has a bunch of oversensitive liberals who should not be doing what they are doing and has nothing to offer the world. The professors are drama ridden middle schoolers still at 50 plus years of age and vermont is a joke, thank you first amendment right.

After transferring from a different college, I absolutely loved my time at Castleton. Being a Health Science major, I had classes with professors in different departments. I feel as though I learned a lot at this school and was challenged. The Natural Sciences Department is the main entity that helped me to get into graduate school.
